The science
What's inside Roof Renewal
A sound roof rarely needs replacing. It needs its shingles restored, then protected. We do both, in two steps.
Rejuvenate the shingle, then seal it. That second step is what most rejuvenation services skip, and what makes a Laminar renewal last.
Step one is a proven nano-hyper-emulsified penetrating Bio-oil rejuvenator (we use HydraSoy™). It's a nano-hyper-emulsified, penetrating Bio-oil formula whose nano-scale particles soak deeper into the shingle than older plant-oil and petroleum treatments, so it works into the shingle and replaces the oils asphalt loses as it ages, restoring flexibility and water resistance. It's rated at 5+ years of roof life per treatment, with a 5-year product guarantee.
Step two is a SiO₂ ceramic sealer, a clear, hydrophobic silica top-coat over the rejuvenated shingle. It locks the treatment in, makes water bead and run off, adds UV and weather protection, and helps keep algae and streaking from coming back.
It's honest, not magic. Renewal is for aging but structurally sound asphalt roofs. It won't fix structural problems, leaks, rot, or missing shingles, and it can't bring an end-of-life roof back. For the right roof, it can help delay replacement and add roughly 6–10 years of life, and we re-treat it free every 5 years for the life of the roof.

Granule surface layer. UV armor. Our SiO₂ ceramic seal is applied here to shed water and slow algae.
- 2
Asphalt coating. Where shingles dry out with age, and where the Bio-oil soaks in to replenish lost oils.
- 3
Fiberglass mat. The structural core. Renewal only makes sense while this is still sound.

Asphalt backing. The underside coating that seals the mat from below.
What renewal does to the asphalt
Asphalt shingles age because they dry out and lose the oils that keep them flexible. The repair goes stage by stage: replenish, then seal.
Aged & brittle
Dried out, granules worn, lost its oils
Bio-oil soaks in
Nano-scale oils replenish the asphalt
Restored & sealed
Flexible, ceramic-sealed, sheds water
Rejuvenate, then seal
Two coats, one visit. The first restores the shingle; the second protects it. That second coat is the step most rejuvenation services leave out.
Bio-oil rejuvenator
We saturate the shingles with a nano-hyper-emulsified penetrating Bio-oil rejuvenator. Its nano-scale particles soak in and replace the oils asphalt loses with age, which restores the flexibility and water resistance of a far younger roof. The maker rates it at about 5 years of added life per treatment.
SiO₂ ceramic sealer
Then we add a SiO₂ (silica) ceramic sealer over the top. This clear, hydrophobic layer locks the rejuvenator in and makes water bead and run off. It adds UV protection and slows algae from coming back. Most rejuvenation services stop after the first step. The seal is what sets a Laminar renewal apart.
The Bio-oil rejuvenator we use (HydraSoy™) is a product of HydraSoy Solutions LLC; its performance figures are the manufacturer's own and are eco-friendly, made with no harsh solvents. Results vary by roof; renewal is not a substitute for replacing a failed roof.
What the research shows
The bio-oil chemistry, independently tested
Independent ASTM/UL lab testing of a soy methyl ester emulsion, a bio-oil of the same class our treatment uses, found aged shingles behaved much closer to new ones after treatment.
the ASTM D3462 pliability test that untreated aged shingles failed, with flexibility restored to near-new
less granule loss, so granules hold better
lower water-vapor permeability, for stronger water resistance
less hail-impact damage (depression size)
in spread of flame, so no added fire risk (ASTM E108 Class A)

The formulation tested was a commercial soy methyl ester emulsion, not the specific product we use; the results illustrate the bio-oil rejuvenation chemistry our treatment uses (soy oil is a bio-oil), and the authors note they should be confirmed with accelerated-aging tests.

Three honest effects of a two-step renewal. We don't claim it's a coating or a repair, and we stand behind every word.
Restores flexibility
As shingles age they dry out and grow brittle. The Bio-oil rejuvenator soaks in and replaces the oils that keep shingles flexible, bringing back the give that age strips away.
Sheds water, resists algae
The SiO₂ ceramic sealer leaves a clear, hydrophobic layer on top. Water beads and runs off the way it should, and algae and streaking have a harder time taking hold again.
Extends roof life
Together, on an aging but sound roof, that can add roughly 6–10 years of life and help you delay a costly replacement.
The honest version
Is Roof Renewal right for you?
Renewal is a genuine alternative to replacement for the right roof, and not the answer for the wrong one.
Renewal is for you if…
- Your roof is aging but still structurally sound
- It's an asphalt shingle roof
- Shingles are weathered, faded, or have algae and moss
- You want to delay a costly full replacement
It's not for you if…
- There's structural damage or a failing roof deck
- Active leaks, rot, or water getting inside
- Shingles are missing, cracked through, or badly curling
- The roof is at the genuine end of its life
If replacement is the right call, we'll say so. We won't sell you a treatment that won't help.

The Laminar promise
Renew, don't replace.
One flat, upfront price. We renew your roof once, then come back free every 5 years, for the life of the roof.
No hassle, no costly replacement. Your roof stays protected for years, and if it ever wears off early, we come back sooner, free.
